Why Is My Cash App Account Closed?

Cash App closes or limits accounts when identity cannot be confirmed, activity looks automated or high-risk, or the account sat unused. Sometimes it is a temporary hold that feels like a closure.

Common reasons

• Name, SSN, or date of birth did not match records
• Chargebacks, gambling patterns they do not allow, or repeated scam reports
• You asked to close it, or you stopped using it
• Device or location signals that look like account sharing

What you can do

Open support from the Cash App profile, call the published support line, or write Block’s published mailing address. Have your legal name and the email/phone on the account ready. If the close is permanent, you typically cannot reopen the same login. A new account needs a different email or phone and still has to pass identity checks — opening a second account to dodge a ban can make things worse.
