How to Unfreeze Venmo

A frozen Venmo account usually means you cannot send, receive, or cash out until Venmo is satisfied. The first step is always the same: read the in-app banner, then contact Venmo support (the number people still use is 1-855-812-4430, but in-app chat is the durable path because numbers change).

Typical freeze reasons

  • Negative balance — a payment reversed after you spent the money. Pay the amount due, usually by debit card.
  • Identity — upload a photo ID and confirm SSN if asked.
  • Terms — selling goods as a private account, gambling, or repeated complaints. Support may or may not restore access.
  • Suspicious login — confirm it was you; change the password and turn on PIN/biometrics.

If you violated the terms, there is no trick. You explain, you wait, and you accept that some freezes are permanent. Do not create a second Venmo to dodge a freeze; that is another terms problem.
